      Second Runway Approved

      On 4 August 2026 the Court of Appeal dismissed the last legal challenge to Gatwick's Northern Runway project, clearing the £2.2bn scheme to proceed. It will eventually add up to 100,000 flights a year, though the first flights on the repositioned runway aren't expected until around 2030 — so it won't affect your journey today, but it's the reason you may start seeing construction activity around the airport perimeter.

      Terminals Reshuffled in March 2026

      British Airways and Jet2 consolidated their operations into the South Terminal, while easyJet consolidated into the North Terminal. Airlines do move between terminals, so it's always worth checking your boarding pass rather than relying on memory from a previous trip.

      Drop-Off Charges Increased

      Charges rose to £10 for up to 10 minutes (up from £7) from 6 January 2026, at both terminals, rising £1 a minute after that up to a £30 maximum, with a £100 penalty notice if it isn't settled online by midnight the following day. This is already built into your fixed fare with us, so it's one less thing to think about after a long flight.

      Not yet. The Northern Runway project was cleared by the Court of Appeal in August 2026, but the first flights from the repositioned runway aren't expected until around 2030.
